A piece of diary from a Sunday morning

DSCN1729.JPGI seldom wrote a diary on a Sunday morning, especially when I become a father.  But today, when I woke up and calm my youngest son to get to sleep again, I "squeeze" time and write this piece of diary.

I used to do the marking job after all my children got to bed, sometimes after 11.00pm, or later.  HSSC workload always drives me crazy.  Pat and I are the only two BS colleagues teaching 2 F. 6 classes in the second term and so, the worload of marking assignments are double, compared with our other colleages.

I have to admit I am getting older and older, and inversely proportional to my energy level.  Even few months ago, I could still manage to get up to bed and do the marking tasks from 11.30pm for 2 or 3 more hours; alternatively, get up at 4am in the morning till the time for work.  Starting this month, I found myself so tired, not in the mood, that I always got to sleep until the morning of the other day.  One thing unchanged: I don't need an alarm clock to wake me up.  Last week, I got up before 6 in the monring.  Some colleagues said it's a clear sign of stress.  Well, working in HSSC is always an uneasy job, especially when I have 3 "monsters".  As far as I know, Kerwin and I are the only teaching staff who have 3 children, but Kerwin's children are all grown up, one is a graduate and join the workforce already, and the other one is in the university.  And me?  the youngest is 9 months old and the eldest is 6 years old.  You can imagine how busy my life at home is.

When I started my career in teaching, I still remember the days I went to a number of housecamps and wildcamps with my students.  Some of the camps were even 3-day long!! And of course, had spent several Sundays and holidays to "add oil" in their sports competition or activities.  I still remember I accompanied Michelle, Philip, Angus and San for a film-taking course for 6 consecutive Saturday afternoons.  That's my good memory of my teaching.  And, we met months ago and had a good dinner, chatting one another, and we plan to have a 10th anniversary dinner next year.  I can't wait for the time to come.

Time on earth is short and yet, we should enjoy every precious moment in our lives, no matter it's sorrow or joyfulness.  One thing for sure, we should try our best to cherish every single day, alone, or with our family members or friends together.
