Differences

According to Hong Kong Economic Journal on March 03, 2008, the life span of HK males and females is the second longest of the world. The average age of male is 79.4 while 85.5 years for women.

But ridiculously, the birth rate in HK is also the lowest in the world, only 984 babies in 1000 females, while in the US. it's 2100 in 1000 women.

When the city is getting older and older, u can imagine what the problems arise: downturn of labour force and overall producitivity, government financial return, and more importantly, the increasing burden of medical expenses.

Nevertheless, the death in Sierra Leone (West Africa) is 157 babies in 1000, before they're 1-year-old (15.7%). Malnutrition is one important reason. 1.43 billions of children are in malnutritional stage in developing countries.

Aids is also critical. In Botswana (Southern part of Africa), the average lifespan of people is 39 years and expectedly in 2010, the situation is 'worsening' that 27 years of age is the average.

If you are the lucky one, what can/should you do?
